Get Moving While Building Friendships and Developing Character

The lessons for our students don’t end with the final bell of the day if they are involved in co-curricular activities. In fact, the learning experiences that come from participation in drama, music, speech, athletics, and the like promote lifetime values that cannot always be learned in the classroom.

Responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, trustworthiness, and citizenship are lifetime values taught through athletics, and these are the principles of good sportsmanship. With them, the spirit of competition thrives, fueled by honest rivalry, courteous relations, and graceful acceptance of the results.

League Information

La Sierra Academy is a member of:

• California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section, or CIF-SS.
• Arrowhead League (girls’ volleyball, basketball, co-ed soccer, baseball, softball and track)
• Inland Coast League (boys’ volleyball)

Eligibility

To play on Varsity or Junior Varsity teams, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and must not have a grade lower than a D- in any class.

Games and Practices

There are typically two games per week against other Arrowhead League teams, with a few preseason games before league play begins (18-20 games total). Practices are two-three times per week and last from 90 minutes to two hours. Practice times vary but are usually from 4:00pm – 6:00pm for girls, 6:00 – 8:00pm for boys.

Players’ Responsibilities

• Participation is a privilege, not a right
• Sportsmanship is expected at all times, on or off campus
• Student Handbook guidelines must be followed at all times
• On-time attendance for practices and games
• Listen and follow coaches’ directions
• Use and return all equipment and uniforms in the condition in which issued

Awards and Recognition

Each participant is eligible for postseason awards if the season is completed in good standing with all team obligations fulfilled.
